Agricultural Residues as Potential Diluents in Natural Rubber Formulation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Agricultural residues such as Maize Husk, Groundnut Shell, Coconut Shell and Sugarcane Bagasse were collected, sorted, dried ground to particulate fillers. The various fillers characterized in terms of density, moisture content pH value. Single ordinates 150 µm particle size 30 parts per hundred rubber (pphr) loading respectively adopted for all filler types. They used alongside with conventional Sulphur vulcanization system (high low organo-accelerator level) the formulations natural compounds. Tests tensile strength at 400% elongation, constant force compression set, abrasion resistance a function percentage mass retention on surface exposure rotating abrasive thermal stability using differential scanning calorimeter carried out. Results obtained revealed that vulcanizate samples filled coconut shell sugarcane bagasse had hardness values 58 57 Shore A scale while unfilled carbon black sample respective 45 49 hardness. However, showed superior elongation ones agricultural residues. Therefore, these can serve diluents formulation vulcanizates.

Redefining Agricultural Residues as Bioenergy Feedstocks
The use of plant biomass is a sustainable alternative to the reduction of CO₂ emissions. Agricultural residues are interesting bioenergy feedstocks because they do not compete with food and add extra value to the crop, which might help to manage these residues in many regions. Breeding crops for dual production of food and bioenergy has been reported previously, but the ideal plant features are...
متن کاملThe Cyclization of Natural Rubber
The effects of solvent, temperature, time, weight percent of catalyst on the rate and mechanism of cyclization of natural rubber (NR) was studied in toluene and xylene solutions having tin tetra chloride catalyst (SnCl4). Iodometric titration show, with 8% SnCl4 (based on polymer weight) cyclization occurs, leaving 27.4% of the total unsaturation. Infrared spectra of c...
متن کاملPotential of agricultural residues and hay for bioethanol production.
Production of bioethanol from agricultural residues and hays (wheat, barley, and triticale straws, and barley, triticale, pearl millet, and sweet sorghum hays) through a series of chemical pretreatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, and fermentation processes was investigated in this study. Composition analysis suggested that the agricultural straws and hays studied contained approximately 28.62-38.58%...
متن کاملMaize Stalk As Reinforcement In Natural Rubber Composites
Maize stalk fibres can be used as fillers in natural rubber composites replacing expensive and non-biodegradable inorganic fillers. Maize stalk fibres were chemically modified with acetic anhydride (acetylation) to enhance their compatibility with the hydrophobic rubber polymer matrix. The fibre was characterised using FTIR showing a spectrum with a well defined peak at 1742 cm -1 (attributed t...
